Sara Ali Khan Wore the Most Resplendent Lehenga for Atrangi Re Promotions

The best part about celebrity promotional wardrobes is that it low-key gives you inspiration for your own looks that you can wear to occasions which demand that you be well-dressed. And Sara Ali Khan has been serving us multitudes of looks of late. For the promotion of her new movie, Atrangi Re, the actor has been wearing Indian looks, each one nicer than the last, and with the wedding season on in full swing, inspiring us to ditch the usual designs, and experiment with newer designs and colour palettes. Of everything she has worn (so far), the one that caught our eye — and what we want to immediately cop — is a multicolour lehenga featuring the most exquisite embroidery.

The lehenga set, a predominantly red skirt, golden blouse with intricate sequin detailing on parchin kari-inspired design, and blue dupatta, is from designer Mayyur Girotra whose designs often champion traditional embroidery rejigged to suit the taste of his modern-day wearers. Sara’s lehenga, from the designer’s 2022 couture collection, Baawli, features not just thread embroidery but also gota, mirrors, and tilla sequins, all hand-sewn to give the lehenga its rich look. The best part about the lehenga, though, is the elephants and foliage designs that inundate the middle of the skirt, and according to the designer, his reinterpretation of the mythical tree of life.

“Sara looks ravishing in our Gadwal silk printed lehenga. I feel this particular look goes very well with her personality which is vibrant, young, cheerful, and chic,” says Mayyur Girotra, whose design sensibility is largely equal parts bohemian and traditional, and perfect for the new-age Indian women like Sara Ali Khan.

Tanya Ghavri, who styled Sara’s look, kept the use of jewellery to a minimum with just a Minerali necklace, bangles from Joolry and an oversized statement kundan ring. Her earthy makeup, too, is worth recreating, especially for women who believe in less is more. Also, are we normalising nude lips with rich Indian wear?

Sara’s look is perfect for bridesmaids and wedding guests who want to nail wedding dressing with little to no effort and just let the outfit do the talking. For brides seeking boho-chic options, too, this lehenga look is ideal for pre-wedding events.
