Kate Middleton's Head-to-Toe Red Outfit Is Winter Wardrobe Goals
Imagine this: you’re Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. The newest clothes from the best designers from anywhere in the world is at your disposal. People also seem to like you very much so they want to actually dress you. They’ll give you the most coveted pieces from their recently-concluded runway shows, let you have the pieces exclusively, and even custom make outfits to match your every need.
But you seem to be a person of simple sartorial needs (with the exception of the gilded Jenny Packham cape dress that became the showstopper outfit on the No Time To Die red carpet, despite Ana de Armas’ risque Louis Vuitton gown with jeweled chain straps) who cares more about timeless style and less about runway seasons.
This is our understanding of why Kate Middleton chose to wear a simple pleated red outfit to make an appearance at the non-profit The Forward Trust’s “Taking Action on Addiction” campaign.
The outfit in question is a very red yet very simple maxi pleated skirt and matching turtleneck. The skirt is by designer Christopher Kane from his Pre-Fall 20 collection, thereby reinstating my belief that the duchess is really about investing in seasonless classic pieces and not so much about seasons. The matching turtleneck that one could have sworn comes with the skirt is actually by Ralph Lauren. She’s also paired her outfit with twist hoop earrings from ASOS that cost about 1k and a mini handbag called The Nano Montreal from DeMillier which could be yours, too, if you’re willing to drop 30k on it, and a pair of nude heels by Ralph Lauren. With sweater weather just around the corner, Kate’s snug turtleneck and skirt look with her perfectly blow dried hair is what we would want to recreate for our next event.
Not only did Kate look stellar but also normalised wearing wardrobe pieces from previous collections, case in point, a utilitarian yet chic skirt from pre-fall 2020, in spring-summer 2022. Considering how Kate is also known for serially recycling her outfits both off the red carpet and on it, chances are this Christopher Kane skirt will make an appearance on our feeds again. Until then, we’re scratching our itch for the perfect winter look with this ensemble.
