480 Covid Deaths In A Day In India, Lowest In Over 3 Months

A total of 1,19,014 people in India have died due to coronavirus till now. The total number of COVID-19 infections stand at 79,09,959 with 71.37 lakh having recovered till now.
Almost 90 per cent people who have contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in India have now recovered. There are now 6.5 lakh total active cases - about 8 per cent of the tally.
New coronavirus infections in the past week have also remained in the 51,000 daily average range, against the weekly average of about 80,000 in early October.
The positivity rate has also almost halved in the past month, from 8.2 per cent to 4.8 per cent now.
About 56 per cent of all cases were reported from Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and West Bengal.
Kerala yet again reported more new cases than Maharashtra, which continues to report highest Covid deaths despite a dip in cases. About 55 per cent of these deaths were reported from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Delhi has also seen its daily Covid cases rise in the past week indicating at a fresh surge. The national capita reported 4,000+ cases for the second consecutive day on Saturday. Its positivity rate also increased to 7.42 per cent.
The country has conducted a total of 9.4 lakh tests in the last 24 hours. More than 10 crore tests have been conducted in India since the pandemic started.
India remains the second worst affected country by the pandemic after the United States, which has 86.35 lakh cases and more than 2.25 lakh Covid related deaths.
The United States, which is set to elect a new President on November 3, saw its highest ever number of new COVID-19 cases over the weekend - 84,244 on Friday and 79,852 on Saturday.
