WhatsApp users are now able to send photos, videos, stickers, GIFs.

WhatsApp is now back online in India and most users can send and receive stickers, photos, videos, and GIFs. The popular online messaging service started facing some issues in several regions across the world this evening. Users complained of not being able to send or receive photos, GIFs, stickers and videos. However, the messaging service was working continuously on the app throughout this period.

As per the downdetector.in, WhatsApp users started reporting outage after 4:00 pm in the evening and by 5:00 pm the outage reports have sky-rocketed. As per the outage map, the Facebook-owned messaging app was facing issues in parts of India, Brazil, and parts of the Middle-East including UAE. The map also shows that Europe is also facing severe outage.

Last year, Facebook-owned three services — Facebook (social media), WhatsApp, and Instagram — were impacted with users complaining they were unable to upload or send images, videos and other files on the apps. The company had later tweeted that it was aware people were having trouble accessing the services across its apps and that it was working to fix the problem.

A Facebook spokesperson later clarified that the outage problem was due to a routine maintenance operation, which ended up triggering a bug responsible for the problem with uploading images and videos. Facebook has yet to comment on the first outage situation of WhatsApp in 2020.
