Chelsea vs AS Roma, Champions League: Chelsea hold AS Roma in 3-3 goalfest, Manchester United edge Benfica 1-0
Chelsea’s campaign at home in the English Premier League wasn’t off to a cracker. They were beaten by, then winless, Crystal Palace on the weekend and Manchester City prior to the international break. Champions League football offered them a chance to gather some momentum from their two wins in the group stage. However, AS Roma had different plans on the night. Even as Blues led 2-0 inside the first half, the Italians kept coming and attacking with full intent. They were duly rewarded with a goal by Kolarov and a brace by Dzeko to turn the game on its head. However, Eden Hazard saved them from falling to a third successive defeat – for the first time in 11 years… Elsewhere, Manchester United beat Benfica in Portugal with a Marcus Rashford goal.
