Congress Sweeps Punjab Civic Polls, Wins All 3 Municipal Corporations
Polling was held in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala municipal corporations, several municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh thanked people for turning out in huge numbers to support the Congress in municipal corporations, Nagar Panchayat and Council elections. He told reporters that Congress had won all three municipal corporations where elections were held.

"Election results have been very good, we are very pleased. You can't get a better result than this. Out of three corporations, we have swept polls and won all of them," he said.
Singh said that in Patiala, out of 60 seats, Congress won 56 seats of which results have been declared. Similarly, in Jalandhar, out of 80 seats, results of 77 were declared and the party had won 63 if them. In Amritsar, out of 85, results for 61 seats been declared of which 45 were won by the Congress.
"In the municipal committees, out of 32, we have won 31. This is vindication of our policies and programmes," he added.
