2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class Spied Again
The next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS was recently spotted undergoing cold weather testing ahead of its global unveiling later this year. Still covered in heavy camouflage, the new-gen is expected to break cover in the second half of 2018, possibly at Frankfurt or the Paris Motor Show. The next-generation GLS is based on the new MHA platform, which has allowed the SUV to grow in dimensions and also made the lighter and a roomier cabin. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS is also expected to lose it boxy profile with a styling and design language.

Visually, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS is still seen with a bunch of fake bolt-on body panels to hide the true shape and design of the new GLS. That said, we do see that the new GLS will come with full LED headlamps, new larger outside rearview mirror among few other updates. The new GLS will also get a set of new alloy wheels, although the test mule on these photos is seen with different alloys on each of the four wheels. Also, the prototype is still equipped with temporary testing taillamps while the production version is expected to get new LED units. The integrated dual exhaust system integrated with the rear bumper also looks makeshift.

On the features front, the new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS will also come with some semi-autonomous systems and functions derived from the E-Class and S-Class. Other features carried over from its sedan counterpart will include the touch-sensitive steering wheel, Mercedes' COMAND infotainment system, auto parking and more.

Powertrain options are still unknown, but the new Mercedes-Benz GLS is expected to get a range of four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and eight-cylinder diesel and petrol engines. Rumour has it that the new GLS will also come in a hybrid version powered by a 3-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor for a total output of well over 400 bhp and there will also be an AMG model equipped with the 4-litre biturbo V8.
